About Gate Serve

Now firmly established as an aviation vendor, Gate Serve is in high gear.

As a subsidiary of Gate Gourmet in the U.S., Gate Serve began in early 2004 to assist with functions such as assembling soda drawers, packing silverware, and building liquor and/or beer kits. The company now provides services including packaged food and beverage items, dry supply uplift (napkins, cups, sugar, dry creamers, etc.), and other needs for more than 10 airline customers.

Gate Serve is continuously updating its core practices to fit our customers' changing business needs. In early 2006, the company evaluated its catering processes and improved its truck design and service capabilities.

Previously, our employees used aircraft steps or jet bridges to access aircraft galleys. Additionally, the typical Utility Catering Carts used were not designed to service regional jet aircraft through the galley door and did not contain segregated storage. So Gate Serve designed a new catering cart to allow employees to service flights through the galley door, similar to a mainline catering truck. This also helps our customers, as we will not be in the way of passengers boarding or departing the aircraft, not to mention the reduction in catering time. As an additional measure, the cart's cargo box was modified to segregate beverages, dry supplies and trash, and also includes an insulated section to hold ice. The new truck model has meant improved efficiency with those airline customers operating regional jets, such as United Express and American Eagle.
