Turkish Airlines Prefer Gate Gourmet

February 1, 2003 - Gate Gourmet has become Turkish Airlines' preferred caterer. Gate Gourmet now provides catering services for Turkish Airlines flights to 24 destinations out of Turkey and 32 destinations worldwide.

Gate Gourmet won 10 new destinations with Turkish Airlines (THY): Since February 1, Gate Gourmet has been providing catering for the airline's daily flight from New York JFK to Istanbul, and Gate Gourmet Germany has taken over as Turkish Airlines' supplier from LSG catering for their nine destinations in Germany: 2 daily flights from Dusseldorf, 3 daily from Frankfurt, 1 each daily from Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin-Tegel, Hanover, Nuremberg, Munich and Stuttgart to Istanbul, and 2 weekly flights from Berlin-Schoenefeld to Ankara.

Turkey is one of Germany's top holiday destinations. According to Country M.D. and THY's global executive account manager Mohamed Hammam, the new business should add to Gate Gourmet's global market share and significantly increase its annual turnover. In November 2002, the Hong Kong unit already won THY's tender for their two weekly flights out of Hong Kong.
