Built and opened in 1999, the BCN unit is well equipped with an up-to-date, modern kitchen and a state-of-the-art shuttle system. The largest customer in BCN is Iberia, representing 70% of total revenues, half of which are traditional catering and the other half DTP services. The unit also serves some important intercontinental airlines, including Delta, Aerolineas Argentinas and Avianca.

Gate Gourmet Barcelona closely collaborates with renowned local and international Chefs, including Sergi Arola (for Iberia traditional catering) and Ferrán Adriá (who designs high-end branded DTP sandwiches). The kitchen also provides services for the Spanish Royal Family and other VIP flights. With the addition of new customer Clickair in October 2006, the Barcelona unit continues to increase its distinctive expertise in serving low cost carriers. Today, these customers represent about 35% of annual revenues.

The unit has about 220 Employees and is known for its young (with an average age of 30), ambitious and dynamic management team.
